Earned Income Credit (EIC):

If you are a filer who normally receives earned income credit (EIC), and are claiming one or more children, there is specific information and documentation that is required.

Failure to provide what is required can and will result in the IRS denying and or reducing your refund. The IRS is thoroughly checking returns for fraud and should they investigate, we are obligated to assist with the investigation via the information you provide.

A major part of EIC is proof of dependent’s residency (needs to be same as filer for at least six months during the tax year being filed).

For proof of dependent's residency, you can provide one or more of the following:

· School records or statements

· Landlord or property management statement

· Health care provider statement

· Medical records

· Child care provider records

· Placement agency statement

· Social service records or statement

· Place of worship statement

· Other documentation

For disabled dependents, you can provide one or more of the following:

· Doctor statement

· Other health care provider statement

· Social services agency or program statement

· Other documentation

What is the Child Tax Credit (CTC)?

If you are self-employed and file a Schedule C with your tax return, additional information is required to verify the validity of your business.

For self-employed clients, you can provide one or more of the following:

· Business license

· Forms 1099

· Records of gross receipts provided by taxpayer

· Taxpayer summary of income

· Records of expenses provided by taxpayer

· Taxpayer summary of expenses

· Bank statements

· Reconstruction of income and expenses

· Other documentation
